Southeast rocks TeamWorks competition
Access Fund TeamWorks 2010 | Written by Emily Bregel
For the second year running, Southeastern climbing teams dominated the Access Fund’s TeamWorks competition, an environmental stewardship program geared to involve young climbers in conservation.
Four of the five top teams in this year’s competition — with scores based on number of volunteer hours logged during trail clean-up days over the past year — were from the Southeast region.
|
Note: Special thanks to all of the youth climbing teams that worked so hard on Access Fund's TeamWorks!

Dirty South "climbing" Film Fest a Blast
Greg Berry revs up the crowd. Photo by Andrew Kornylak | After a cloud burst of rain cleared the steamy afternoon air and cooled down the temps, the Dirty South "climbing" Film Fest kicked off into a turbo-charged night at WallCrawlers gym (intown ATL, Ga). The goal of the event was to raise funds to purchase a portion of the Steele cliffline, watch some really cool new climbing videos, catch up with friends and have fun. We think that goal was achieved as the film festival raised $1,717 after expenses and four videos were shown to a packed, energetic crowd.

Note: Thanks to Scott Gross, Will Eccleston, Greg Berry, Andrew Kornylak, Josh Fowler, the Atlanta Climbing Club and WallCrawlers gym for their support of DScFF.

On Saturday, November 4, 2006, climbers and non climbers alike met at 9am at Craven's house to begin work on trail reconstruction at Sunset Park in Chat-town, Tennessee. With more than 20 volunteers, along with the guidance of the Sunset Park Rangers, the base of the classic routes "RJ Gold" and "Jefferson Airplane" was landscaped in order to repair damage caused by climber traffic. The root damage done was very similiar to damage that caused access issues near "Blonde Ambition" on south side. Needless to say, the work done on Saturday was imperative.
