Pot Point offers a wilderness bouldering experience with views of the Tennessee River, nestled inside Prentice Cooper State Forest. Prentice Cooper is historically known for its hiking and views, pot point also offers hundreds of boulder problems. Development in the area was largely done by Micah Genry, Matthew Gant and Dave Andrews, but the area still offers plenty of FA’s.
Prentice Cooper closes the gate to the park at sundown. Plan accordingly in order to not get locked in. Visitors are subject to all Prentice Cooper State Forest rules and regulations.

Once inside Prentice Cooper follow gravel road for 6.5 miles and park at Davis Pond Rd. to hike in (Dec.-March). If you are able to drive past the gate in open season, take the right fork shortly after leaving Davis Pond, drive to a cul de sac and enter at Sandtown.
What to Expect
For those looking for quality bouldering in an uncrowded environment, check out Pot Point. Solid sandstone and a great variety of grades make this area a place for everyone. Plus, there is plenty of room for further development
Access notes
- Climbers are subject to All Prentice Cooper State Forest rules
- Leave before sundown
- No alcohol or drugs
- No excessive cleaning of boulders or areas around the boulders
- dogs allowed on leash
- Yield to hikers and keep your belongings out of the trails
- Pack out all trash
Camping
There is free camping at Davis Pond and at the check in station outside the gates. Only camp in designated areas.
