Rocktown resides in the Crockford Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area. Rocktown is arguably one of the best bouldering locations in the Southeast, known for it’s amazing sandstone and bomber slopers, crimpers, hueco’s, rails, and its intense top outs. A hunting or fishing license is required to visit any area within the WMA (Lost Wall, Rocktown, Zahnd). You can buy daily or annual licenses. The best option for climbers include the hunting, fishing or annual lands pass. All licenses include camping.
Crockford-Pigeon Mountain (Rocktown + Lost Wall) have announced their 2024 hunting closure dates:
Oct. 19-20
Nov. 14-16
No climbing is allowed during these dates. Visit Georgia WMA regulations for more info.
The trails at Rocktown are closed until 10 AM from September – January 1st for archery season.

What to Expect
It’s easy to become overwhelmed by all the four-stars and classics at a bouldering area like Rocktown, and rightfully so, as this area is one of the largest in the southeast with over 500 established boulder problems. The high density of stellar boulders and nearby camping, Rocktown is a great weekend (or longer) destination spot.
